Minister of Labour welcomed Ms. Sachiko Yamamoto, Director of International Labour Organization (ILO) in Asian Pacific Region , paid a visit for discussing and expressing his concerns that the current situation would escalate and consequently impact on 15th Asia Pacific Regional Forum-APRM arranged in Bangkok. Mr. Phaithoon Kaeothong, Minister of Labour, stated that Ms.Sachiko Yamamoto, Director of ILO in Asian Pacific Region paid a visit for discussing about the 15th Asia Pacific Regional Forum arranged in Bangkok during 12-15 October 2010. He expressed his concerns about the situation that it would be escalated and impacted on the upcoming Forum. There will be approximately 500 of ministers and administrators from different countries participate in this Forum. According to the discussion, it comes to the conclusion to monitor the situation for 7 days. The aim of Regional meeting arranged by International Labour Organization: ILO is to open a forum for tripartite representatives from all regions to discuss and contemplate the labour problems in regional level and propose the resolution to the government of member countries in each regions in order to be a guideline for implementing labour policy to develop economy and society. This meeting will be arranged every 3 years in 4 regions namely South America, Europe and Middle Asia, Africa and Asia Pacific by specifying the selected location in one member country in region alternately. Mr. Phaithoon further stated that the assistance provided for workplaces, employers around Ratchaprasong affecting from National United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship’s rally are 1. Increase liquidity to workplaces, hotels, department stores for example, by offering credit, installment payment, taxes, delaying social security fund for 180 days, 2. Compensate the rental fee for shops, 3. Survey the figure of suffering temporary employees with hourly wage. As part of MOL, during 20-25 April 2010, there are petitions from labours and workplaces totally 86 and 33 in total respectively.
