Department of Skill Development arranged the 1st Technical Committee Meeting for the 8th Asian Skill Competition during 25-30 April 2010 at Imperial Queens Park Hotel Bangkok in order to prepare to host the 8th Asian Skill Competition. Mr. Nakorn Silpa-Archa, Director-General of Department of Skill Development, revealed that Thailand will honorably host the 8th Asian Skill Competition during 18-23 November 2010 at Challenger Hall 1-2 Impact Muang ThongTani . MOL by DSD has arranged the 1st Technical Committee Meeting in order to keep in readiness for arranging the competition and activities in parallel with the competition in the last November. The 1st Technical Committee Meeting will be arranged between 25-30 April 2010 at Imperial Queens Park Hotel, Bangkok with an aim to prepare the exam and categories of the skill competition, rules and scoring criteria for each category. There are totally 21 skill categories ranging from M mecha. tronics, drawing computer-aided drafting (CAD), wall and floor tiling , information technology, industrial electronic, graphic design, electrical installation, furniture, joinery, pipe and sanitary ware, food and beverage, automobile technology, web design, mason, welding, technological fashion, hairdressing, cooking, network cabling. It is anticipated that there will be experts from Asian countries participate in this competition approximately 200 people. It is regarded a good opportunity that Thailand and Asian member countries will showcase the skill capacity, human resource development and collaboration in labour skill enhancement. This is to show readiness of Asian regions in handling with the investment from countries outside the regions. Asian Skill Competition is one of the activities of Asian member countries to show the coordination in skill development in all regions. Since Thailand has a large number of craftsmanship which can attract foreign investors to invest in the country consequently leading to a greater national economy. Particularly, this competition is to prepare for Thai labours’ readiness in dealing with free movement of labours in Asian countries in 2515
