The Social Security Office (SSO) makes an announcement to grant old age gratuity to the insured persons who have the rights to receive gratuity at 4.05% per year. However, they have to submit the application to receive their benefits within one year. The Social Security Office has made an announcement of the rate of old age gratuity in the year 2009. The calculation is based on the average benefits gaining from the capital investment. Therefore, the rate of compensation is set at 4.05 percent per year out of the additional fund which is added by the insured and the employers to compensate in the case of old age and child welfare. The insured person who is entitled to the old age gratuity must be the insured who does not meet 180 months additional fund payment; who is 55 years of age; who is no longer has an insured status. The gratuity will be paid according to time period of insured’s install payment to the additional fund in the case of old age and child welfare. As in the case where the insured has paid additional fund for less than 12 months, he will receive old age gratuity equaling to the amount of additional fund the insured has paid to the fund alone. In the case where the insure has paid the additional fund more than 12 month but less than 180 months, he will receive old age gratuity equaling to the additional fund the insured and employers have paid to the fund with the extra compensational benefits according to what the Social Security Office specifies each year. The insured can easily claim their benefits just by filling up the compensation form (SSO-01) and submitting it together with a photocopy of an identity card. As in the case where insured is death, heirs or any person who is entitled to the compensational benefits can bring a photocopy of the residential registration document, death certificate, and a photocopy of the evidence of the person who is entitled to the compensational benefits and submit them to the SSO in any area/province. The entitled person has to claim the benefit within one year from the day he is entitled to the benefit.
