Mrs.Jiraporn Kesornsutjarit, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Labour (MOL), announced that Mr.Noorul Hassan Saul Hameed, President of Association of Muslim Malaysian restaurant, has recently persuaded its members to terminate the contract of the illegal foreign workers and organized the preserved campaign with over 2,000 members to avoid the use of illegal labours. Subsequently, there will be a number of 25,000 job-positions available for the Malaysian restaurants/nationwide. The association executive directors met Mr.Datuk Seri Hishammuddin tun Hussein Onn, Minister of Interior of Malaysia, to discuss and seek out the resolution of the illegal foreign worker issue. Generally, Malaysians themselves are not interested in working in a restaurant because those can better choose other types of work. Consequently, there are only 2 percent of Malaysian labours legally working in the restaurants across the Malay country. In addition to the foreign labours, the illegal foreign workers have their own business in Malaysia or those foreign workers apply the work permit in not-related business. Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia already analyzed the news and found that, if the Malaysian Ministry of Interior rigorously monitors foreign workers as the Association of Muslim Malaysian Restaurant requested, there will particularly be an impact on many Thai labours working in Tom Yam Thai. This may include the regulation of the Immigration Bureau of Malaysia where announced that Malaysia would strictly have inspected foreign labours after the date of 25 February 2010. The Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia has, therefore, informed the Thai workers to be aware of the notification, and will monitor and later report the influences periodically. |
