Department of Labour Protection and Welfare urged private organizations to join TLS 8001-2546 certification program, to continuously participate in the project, and to be publicly ready for Thai Labour Standard (TLS) Ms.Amporn Nitisiri, Director General of the DLPW, revealed that since DLPW is the main organization in Labour Management, DLPW realized the importance of Human Rights, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and labour standard. These are the main criteria for business dealing such as a company to a company, or a purchaser and a seller. Besides, in the year 2010 ILO had already announced to apply International Social Accountability Standard (ISO 26000). Therefore, DLPW initiated a policy to encourage and support the private sectors to follow Thai Labour Standard for Social Responsibility of the business (TLS 8001-2546) which is the noncompulsory standardization that expressed the high social responsibility of each organization. From 2003 until now, there are 1,463 companies certified TLS 8001-2546 which could help upgrading 1,107,228 worker’s quality of life. For the organizations joining the TLS 8001-2546 certification program, employees would receive the employment and working condition protection according to the laws. Moreover, they would have more working encouragement which could lead to the accident reduction. It could be found that the accident rate in the year 2009 was 14.44 percents less than those in the year 2008. Nevertheless, many private organizations are still unable to be certified TLS 8001-2546 continuously which DLPW have already assigned the central and provincial related subdivisions to proceed and audit to certify the companies with no charge. Moreover, this year DLPW already provided the guideline for the companies who are capable of developing themselves to comply with TLS 8001-2546 system to build the good image to the organizations.
