Cabinet approved for extension of taking photo, health checking up and applying work permit for Myanmar, Laos and Cambodian until 1st February 2009. Mr.Jirasuk Sugandhajati, Director-General to Department of Employment, revealed that cabinet’s resolutions on 3rd November 2009 approved the extension of the period of taking photo, health checking up, applying work permit and foreign worker’s child registration since there were a huge number of foreign workers reporting themselves but Department of Administration have not taken photo of 9,000 foreign workers for tor.ror38/1. In addition, Minister of Public Health has not checked up 152,982 foreign worker’s health, people, totally 161,982 people, causing incomplete implementation in the previous registration. Therefore, in order for foreign workers entering into legal employment system, he therefore command Department of Administration to extend period of taking photo for toro38/1 to 2-18 November 2009 (15 days), health checking up to 4 November 2009-2 January 2010 (60 days) and applying work permit to DOE from 4 November 2009-1 February 2010 (60 days). Besides, the cabinet also approved foreign worker administration committee’s suggestion on a registration of foreign worker’s child. In this regard, Department of Administration allows foreign worker’s child to register at Department of Administration from 19 November 2009-2 January 2010 (45 days). DOE therefore inform the employer or workplace which has not completely implemented a registration of immigrant foreign workers whose nation is Myanmar, Lao, Cambodian, such as taking photo, checking up health and applying work permit, to contact DOE Bangkok at Office of Employment Bangkok area 1-10 or Provincial Office of Employment or tel 1604.
