MOL proposes Occupational Safety Act to House of representatives.

                    Mr.Pongsak Plengsang, MOL political spokesman, revealed that Mr. Phaithoon Kaeothong, Minister of Labour proposed Occupational Safety, Health and Working Environment Act B.E…to the House of representatives on 11th November 2009 in which it was already accepted for the core principles and they set extraordinary committee to consider the reasons of whether the draft is in accordance with the constitution 2009 or not and consider Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva’s policy so as to enhance security protection for all 39 workers.
                    In this regard, after this regulation is effective, it could reduce death toll, caused from working for 1,000 people per year and injuries for over 100,000 people per year, also it could reduce payment of compensation almost 2,000 million baht for injury and death.
Mr.Pongsak states that the substantial of the draft of Occupational Safety Act is divided into  4 categories; First category is General Obligation which prescribes the obligations of employee and employer; second category is occupational safety, health and working environment administration and management which prescribes employer responsibility in warning the accidents and notifying the rules and obligations, regulations regarding occupational safely to the employee, and training, providing devices for safety as well as coordinating with employer to wear personal occupational safety devices. In this regard, implementation for occupational safety allows natural person and juristic person to jointly cooperate with the employer as well.
                    Third category; occupational safety, health and working environment committee consists of government representatives, employer representatives, employee representatives, and experts who are in charge with giving opinions regarding policy, framework, measure to the cabinet and enacting the decree on occupational safety, health and working environment as well as adjudicate  employer’s petition.
                      Forth category; Monitoring and Controlling which imposes the obligation for the employer to evaluate the injury, educate the impact and set occupational safety plan as well as inform the accident to acknowledge safety inspection officer.
