The progress of aiding workers who were injured from crane crashes to the ground in Cholburi.

                    Mr.Pongsak Plengsang, MOL political spokesman, gave an interview on crane crashes to the ground at The Cove Condominium site, its height equals to 18 storey building, located in Banglamung district, Cholburi, killing 4 workers while 1 workers was injured. Mr.Phaithoon Kaeothong, Minister of Labour, ordered the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare to examine its occupational safety, health and working environment whether it is in line with labour standard or not and in case of the offense is found, it shall seriously conform with the law. Meanwhile, Office of Social Security has provided assistance to the death regarding entitled benefits from compensation fund which offers cremations for 100 times of minimum wage of 20,300 baht and remuneration for 60% of monthly wage for 8 years. In this regard, he assigns SSO, Cholburi, Sriracha branch to call on family of the injured workers and the death.
                  Mr. Pongsak further stated that the number of people who faced an accident occurring from working in 2008 was 613 deaths, 15 disabilities, 3,069 losses organs. In 2009, (January-October), there were 487 deaths, 5 disabilities, 1,682 loss organs. Construction business in particular, in 2008 there were 83 deaths, 1 disability. In  2009, a number of loss from 16,393 construction businesses and 322, 781 workers in total is in a process of collection. The compensation fund is currently has 28,281 million baht in total.
                  Therefore, minister of labour accelerates to examine all construction sites including other business as government’s policy on important of Occupational safety, Health, Working Environment in which Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva reiterated on the National Safety Week in recent July 2009 and it is also regarded as national agenda.
                 Besides, the Draft on Occupational Safety, Health, Working Environment was also proposed to House of Representative on 11 November 2009 as well as Cabinet’s resolution on 10 November 2009 which acknowledged the establishment of Office of Labour Safety inside Office of Labour Protection and Welfare in which minister of labour already signed and promulgated in Gazette according to the cabinet’s resolution (19 December 2006)
                 Hence, throughout 2010, the national agenda on Health and Safety of labour is a significant policy of which Office of Labour Protection and Welfare and Office of Social Security has to push an effort implement for setting up labour standard.
