 The progressive report of the GB conference from ILO Switzerland

         Permanent Secretary, head of Thai representatives, attended the 306th ILO conference in Geneva, Switzerland and discussed with General Director of ILO to present the progressive national scheme on decent work agenda and consider to ratify the 87th and 98th Convention on 3 decreases and 3 increases measures.
            Mr. Somchai Choomrat, Permanent Secretary, mentioned to the Governing Body: GB that MOL recognized the importance of decent work which would promote better quality of Thai worker’s life. In this regard, the draft of national scheme was raised under an academic coordination from Asia Pacific Region International Labour Office. The representatives of employee requested to ratify 87th and 09th Convention on rights to organize and collective bargaining in which Mr. Phaithoon Kaeothong, Minister of Labour has policy to support the request. Currently, it has been in a process of public opinion. Also, Thailand broached to Global Job Impact as policy measure that countries can adopt to strengthen their ongoing effort to address a crisis and promote recovery. Thailand also implement in accordance with the policy measure by imposing economic stimulation measure along with social protections focusing on human. Minister of labour used to address in 98th ILO conference hosted in recent July 2009 and Thailand approved the 2nd period of economic stimulation measure in which it would be implemented under Thai strengthen measure with an anticipation to create works for approximately 2 million people. Additionally, minister oflabour also launched so called 3 less3 more which are unemployment reduction, living expenses reduction and mobility reduction and increasing occupational alternative, increasing skills and knowledge and increasing job opportunity. Moreover, MOL is pleased to collaborate with ILO in organizing the 15th Asia Pacific Region Conference which will be taken place in Bangkok during 12-15 October 2010. The details will be discussed further.
              In this regard, Mr.Juan Somavia, General Director of ILO expresses congratulations upon this official discussing on several crucial issues and upon Thailand’s National agenda on decent works, equally importantly, upon the ratification of 87th and 98th Convention which is the significant scheme. Also, he expresses thankfulness for promoting Global Jobs Pacts, he commends to 3 less and 3 more measure as it could solve labour problems effectively and thoroughly. Besides, he has planned to attend Asian Ministers Conference in Vietnam, G 20 Conference in South Korea and Asia Pacific Conference in Bangkok in 2010. He also conveys his respect to minister of labour and appreciates in having an audience with the King when his visit in Asian Ministers Conference hosted by Thailand in Bangkok in 2008. He blesses the king to be healthy an get better soon and he is pleased to have chance to pay a visit to Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister during G 20 conference organized in Australia. 
             The 306th GB ILO Conference will be taken place from 5-16 November 2009 in Geneva, Switzerland. The first agenda, taken place during 5-16 November 2009, is a conference of committee and sub-committee and working groups. The next session, taken place during 17-20 November 2009, is the conference of full governmental administration.
